The College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO), a visionary leader in regulatory governance, is looking for highly motivated individuals to serve on its Nominating Committee.
The Nominating Committee plays a central role in supporting CNO as it implements competencies-based and diversity-aware selection to its committees and Council (board of directors). If you have expertise or experience in one or more of the following areas, CNO invites you to apply to serve as a member of its Nominating Committee. You:
- are a seasoned leader with a dedication to public service and experience in decision-making, change management and protecting the public
- bring a familiarity with and understanding of equity, diversity and inclusion, having lived experience and/or experience serving under-represented communities
- have a strong background in human resources, particularly in candidate recruitment, assessment, and selection
- have strong governance or board experience
- are a skilled communicator with unquestionable integrity, possess strong professional judgement, systems level thinking and a passion for protecting the public.
If this sounds like you, CNO invites you to apply to serve as a member of its Nominating Committee. CNO is actively searching for three members including two members of the public and one nurse member of its Council (board of directors).
As a member of the Nominating Committee, you will be part of a small and committed team that assists the board (Council) in ensuring CNO’s committees have the competencies and attributes (for example relevant experience, diversity, knowledge, skills, and character) to enable them to fulfil their roles and support CNO’s public protection purpose.
Among its duties, the Nominating Committee recommends candidates for appointment or re-appointment to CNO’s committees and advises the Board on best practices in competency-based appointments.
The Nominating Committee meets about six times a year. Meetings are scheduled well in advance. This is largely a service opportunity, although individuals do receive a nominal honorarium.
