Director, Governance Programs
Tan Crombie

An experienced leader with proven success in governance, policy development and implementation, Tan brings a photographer’s eye to every task. Focusing in on her subject, or looking at it from a different angle, she discovers new perspectives that give her more clarity. As Director of Governance Programs, Tan is responsible for project and proposal management, governance education program production, research, writing, and policy analysis.

Prior to joining Governance Solutions, Tan spent over 25 years in the public and not-for-profit sectors. As Manager of Policy and Research for the Ontario College of Teachers, she played a key role during a year-long governance transition that transformed the organization, based on recommendations from Governance Solutions. Tan was so impressed with GSI that she knew she wanted to join the team.

Tan brings diverse board experience from both sides of the table, most recently serving on the board of the Canadian Network of Agencies for Regulation (CNAR). She understands the challenges of implementing governance recommendations, from securing buy in to feeling like the finish line is miles away – and knows that every implementation hurdle can ultimately be overcome.

Tan earned her degree in Economics & Political Science from McGill University and is currently working towards her Professional Director certification. Outside work, she is an adventurer who has hiked the frozen tundra of the far north and the wind-sculpted trees of South America’s southernmost tip.
