EDI: The Inclusion Challenge (Upcoming Live Program)

Date: March 24th
Location
: Online
Time: 1pm – 2:30pm (ET), Friday

Equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) are on every board’s agenda – or at least they should be. Often, however, management shares metrics on diversity and equity, and their board decides their work is done.

But how are you really doing on Inclusion?

EDI: The Inclusion Challenge is a 90-min session designed as a deep-dive into inclusion that will help explain how organizations can be confident their inclusion goals are being successfully achieved.

Inclusion shouldn’t be overlooked

Most boards are generally doing well on equity and diversity but “dropping the ball” on inclusion.
In this program you will learn:

- Tangible metrics to measure inclusion
- How to engage people within your organization
- How to make everyone feel part of the organization
- The line between decisions and decision-makers

EDI & the challenges that we face

Consider these real-world experiences:

A major corporate board engaged a leading global search firm to recruit the perfect diversity candidate: a woman of colour with impeccable executive credentials. Only three board meetings later, it was clear that “things weren’t working out.” An amazing recruit was lost.

A young South Asian professional settled in Saskatchewan on immigrating to Canada. He was persuaded by efforts to improve equity and diversity. Two years later, he told me he was going to move to Toronto or Vancouver. “I look at leaders here, in government, at big corporations, employers, even not-for-profits. And I don’t see anyone like myself. How many more years will it take?”

Join us as we unpack what went wrong, why these people felt they didn’t belong, and how your organization can implement policies and culture to avoid making these same mistakes.
