Legislative changes can be very complex, and you need to assure that your organization will both comply, and thrive, under the new legislation. Legislative Changes:

Ontario (Canada) has a new Not-for-Profit Legislation, which has been in the works for over a decade. The new Ontario Not-for-Profit Corporations Act (ONCA) legislation comes into force on October 19th, 2021, and it will require Not-for-Profit Boards to review their by-laws and carefully consider membership classes, types, and rights.

Get expert advice from Governance Solutions on how to move forward!

“Not-for-profit corporations will be able to use the new registry to complete transactions with the government simply and quickly. The launch of the new registry will also bring into force the Not-for-Profit Corporations Act, 2010, a modern legislative framework for the not-for-profit sector” (source: Ontario Government)

Program and Supporting Concepts:

This 90min training session will highlight the main differences of the new legislation and show Board members which steps they need to take to ensure their organizations are well positioned to successfully adapt to the new requirements:

  1.  New NFP Classification structure and implications
  2. Certificates of Incorporation
  3. By-law implications
  4. Auditing requirements
  5. Member rights
  6. Conflicting legislation
  7. Actions required by boards
